Definitions
- Hospitalist - link to hospitalist web page - a dedicated in-patient provider who works in a hospital.
- Nurse Manager - Nursing management performs leadership functions of governance and decision-making within organizations employing nurses. It includes processes common to all management like planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. It is common for registered nurses to seek additional education to earn a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice to prepare for leadership roles within nursing. - Nurses - RN's, LPN's - While a registered nurse or nurse practitioner plays an active role in conceptualizing patient treatment plans, LPNs tend to be much more task-driven in their work and are typically responsible for actually carrying out those treatments.
- Patient Care Techs - Patient care technicians are medical professionals who provide daily care for patients. Under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Mid-level practitioners - Physician Assistant and or Nurse Practitioners also called advanced practice providers, are health care providers who have a defined scope of practice. The term mid-level refers to the complexity of healthcare situations they handle, not the quality of the care provided. This means that they are trained and legally permitted to provide healthcare in fewer situations than physicians but more than other health professionals.

- Social Worker - A medical social workers primarily focusses on supporting the patients and their families during their hospital stay by coordinating their care both in the hospital and at home in some cases. They have varying degrees. They can be Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Advanced Practicing Social Worker, or a Registered Social Worker.
