Welcome to Fulton County Medical Center's Acute Care Hospital Services. Fulton County Medical Center (FCMC) is a 21-bed Critical Access Hospital in McConnellsburg, PA.
FCMC utilizes hospitalists in our acute care setting. Hospitalists are highly trained providers with evidences based critical care education and skills. FCMC utilizes Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician's Assistants (PA) under direction of attending physicians.
The perks of a hospitalists program include fewer interruptions and enhanced continuum of care. What do hospitalists do? A hospitalist is a provider who cares for inpatients, meaning they work inside a hospital. These providers have often completed residency training in general internal medicine, pediatrics, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, or oncology.
Our Hospital Services
Fulton County Medical Center offers comprehensive hospital care including: observation, Intensive care, inpatient, specialty services and swing bed. Nursing areas include specially trained RN's with BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications as well as, NIHSS certified, crucial care educated. Some of our unique offerings include telemedicine with tele-stroke and tele-neurology.Observation
If needed, our outpatient service allows a patient to stay in the hospital overnight to monitor current symptoms. Here at Fulton County Medical Center, we pay close attention to every symptom to provide an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.Intensive Care
Intensive care refers to the specialized treatment given to patients who are acutely sick and require critical medical care. An intensive care unit (ICU) provides the critical care and possibly life support for acutely ill and injured patients.Swing Bed
If you've been released from acute care but need further treatment before going home, you may be eligible for the Medicare Swing Bed program. This program offers continued care in the comfort and safety of a hospital setting until you are ready to be discharged.The Swing Bed Medicare program provides:
- Ongoing physical, occupational, and speech therapies
- Extended IV antibiotic therapies
- Continued wound care treatment
To qualify for Swing Bed, you must have experienced a three-day acute care hospital stay as well as:
Have Medicare Part A or another qualified insurance plan
Require daily care or five days of rehabilitation services per week for your condition
- Have reached a stable medical status
- Have obtained physician authorization
