WHAT DOES THE FOUNDATION RAISE MONEY FOR?

Healthcare Education for Employees

After the 9/11 tragedy, the travel industry suffered a horrendous blow. One local travel agent came to FCMC for a job, but had to “start small” in patient registration. Soon, FCMC’s education policy helped her pay for an education to become an LPN. This allowed her to help fill a critical shortage of nurses. FCMC has been able to retain people we’ve trained. Donate to our healthcare education fund in order to address shortages of not only employees, but of the many fields within the healthcare professions.

Healthcare Worker Shortages

By the year 2020 (less than 10 years!) there won’t be enough doctors to care for those who need it. Fulton County Medical Center Foundation has a scholarship program that is available to you, your friends, families and neighbors. Students who have received these scholarships have come home to Fulton County to practice medicine and work in healthcare. Contribute to the scholarship fund to help ensure that we avoid the inevitable doctor shortage.

Capital Needs

New equipment at FCMC, such as the digital echocardiogram, deliver clearer, more accurate data so that doctors and nurses can quickly deliver life-saving diagnoses. The independent cardiologists, who staff FCMC, demand these latest technologies in order to properly serve patients. To anticipate needs, FCMC actively seeks donor-funding in order to bring the latest equipment to Fulton County.

Electronic Medical Record

We can get accurate medical information to your physician as soon as it’s entered by the FCMC lab or one of our healthcare practitioners. This means instantaneous communication of your medical needs with your primary care physician or a specialist -anywhere. FCMC is meeting government mandates ahead of time- and you can help. FCMC has been invited to be a critical access hospital example in order to test further advancements in the application of computer science to healthcare. Help keep Fulton County on the cutting edge by contributing.

Emerging Medical Services

FCMC intends to stay ahead of the average rural hospital in every way. We are now adding gynecology services that include portable ultra-sound equipment. Family doctors are no longer delivering babies in the area despite facilities that enable it. The cost of obstetrics has become impossible for any local healthcare facility to take on. With your help, we will continue to search for the best solutions to obstetrics and other emerging Fulton County healthcare needs.

CAMPaign Fund - In addition, the Foundation has a special Fund in memory of former employee Jim Camp. Jim’s love for the place of his birth in the Congo (Africa) kept him returning and supporting charitable healthcare work in Africa for his whole life. The Camp family has kept Jim’s legacy alive by continuing Jim’s work through this Fund.

Endowments - Two endowments support the Medical Center- the General Endowment Fund and the Cheryl A. Brown Fund that supports the Medical Center’s Auxiliary
